Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com January 11, Apple Apple TV users reported that since the installation of tvOS 16.2 Beta in November 2022, huge new banners have appeared at the top of the redesigned "Watch Now" page, which will automatically play video and audio content, and users have no control over their options.
Apple TV users reported the issue to Apple in November last year, and Apple listened to user feedback and made some adjustments. But these adjustments do not satisfy Apple TV users.
In its first improvement to the "Watch Now" page, Apple added a new "Featured" line to the home page, which means that the more frequently used "Up Next" has been moved out of the home page and users need to scroll down to view it.
After Apple TV users objected again, Apple made improvements again. Although the "selected" line is no longer displayed, and the "Up Next" is moved back to the top of the home page for easy access. But Apple has set up a radical banner at the top, looping through so-called "selected" content.
This "selected" content seems to have been selected by the editor. This means that you will see content from TV application integration applications, such as HBO Max and Hulu. And, of course, Apple TV+.
To make matters worse, you will even see a large number of banners showing what you have already seen. No system can hide a preview of what you have seen.
This banner plays not only video previews of "selected" TV shows and movies, but also audio. If you allow the tvOS cursor to hover over this banner area for one second, the preview video and audio will start automatically.
CTOnews.com learned about the previous "Watch Now" tab design that highlighted your "Up Next" queue without any banner ads or feature content.
This is a very disappointing change. Although it is encouraging that the company listened to the feedback and did not push the "Up Next" queue all the way down the page, the new design is still a major step back.
In the new design, the "Up Next" queue is basically sandwiched between a large number of banner previews above and the Apple TV+ content-specific section below. This makes it easy to ignore, which must have been intentionally designed by Apple in this redesign.
