Wang Guangquan, chief of the Science and Technology Committee of China Unicom Research Institute, attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Building a Gigabit boutique network to build a digital wisdom base".

The number of gigabit users has reached 87.07 million, and the new service-driven optical network has accelerated gigabit upgrade. at present, China has built the world's largest fixed broadband network, and cities at and above the prefecture level have achieved full coverage of optical fiber networks.

According to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the number of fixed Internet broadband access ports in China has reached 1.065 billion, a net increase of 47.21 million over 2021. Among them, optical fiber access (FTTH / O) ports reached 1.019 billion, a net increase of 59 million over 2021, accounting for 95.7% of broadband access ports. As of the end of November, the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capacity reached 14.16 million, a net increase of 6.303 million over 2021.

As of November 2022, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users reached 587 million, an increase of 51.17 million over the end of 2021. Among them, the total number of FTTH / O users reached 556 million, an increase of 51.23 million over the end of 2021.

Among them, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users with 100Mbps and above access rates reached 551 million, accounting for 93.9% of the total fixed broadband users. 87.07 million users with access rates of 1000Mbps or above. Accounts for 14.8% of the total number of fixed broadband users.

In 2022, China Unicom will fully implement the main business of "big connection" and focus on building a broadband boutique network with all-optical access, global gigabit, all-house WiFi and round-the-clock service.

50g PON is ready to start, and there are still five major problems to be solved to build an all-optical access network base and build an infrastructure with deep integration of computing and network, which will enhance the carrying capacity of network infrastructure and service provision capacity, provide high-quality and low-latency capacity guarantee for efficient connection scheduling of ubiquitous computing resources. In Wang Guangquan's view, after 10G PON, the PON industry will move towards integration in ITU-T 50G TDM-PON. On the other hand, the 50G PON increases the bandwidth by five times, which can achieve a smooth evolution from 10G PON and meet the bandwidth development needs of business application innovation.

However, it is worth noting that after 50G PON, the downlink bandwidth is also further clarified, and the industry pays more attention to the symmetrical development. Therefore, the speech on the development of 50G PON still faces five major problems.

One is the compatibility of 50G PON. Wang Guangquan said that 50G PON pays more attention to the compatibility with existing PON, in which there are many key technologies to be developed. For example, downlink supports single-wave 50Gb / s, uplink supports three uplink rates of 12.5G, 25G and 50G, and ONU of different rates co-exist under the same PON port in time division mode.

The second is the extension of FTTR optical fiber. FTTR is an indoor network with high bandwidth, high quality and long life based on optical fiber, building a new indoor network use and operation experience, and connecting the end to end of the computing network. Reasonable coordination of frequency domain and time domain resources between different AP can achieve the optimization of Wi-Fi performance.

Therefore, the intelligent operation and maintenance based on business must demarcate the business fault from top to bottom, promote the operation and maintenance through perception, and reverse touch to form a closed loop to provide differentiated services.

Fifth, a new type of digital intelligence access network. In Wang Guangquan's view, the bandwidth should not only be ultra-wide, but also have the guarantee of computing power, and be able to achieve the coordination of computing power. Building an all-optical access network base and building an infrastructure with deep integration of computing and network can enhance the network basic carrying capacity and service provision capacity, and provide high-quality and low-delay capacity guarantee for the efficient connection and scheduling of ubiquitous computing resources.

The development of gigabit optical network enabling six digital intelligence service scenarios is inseparable from the drive of services. at present, the development of new services is showing a trend of symmetry, intelligence and ubiquity. Wang Guangquan introduced six gigabit optical network application scenarios that China Unicom has practiced.

First, gigabit all-optical networking to ensure ultra-high-definition video services. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, China Unicom's all-optical transmission network, all-optical access network and all-network home network provided a solid guarantee for the 4K / 8K UHD live broadcast of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Second, digital countryside, building a low-carbon, efficient and intelligent gigabit optical network to help rural digitization. China Unicom through OLT one-stop delivery, rapid deployment, to achieve on-site 0 integration, 0 adjustment and testing; through splitter and welding prefabricated in advance, to achieve fast and efficient and easy installation of gigabit optical network.

Third, live broadcast broadband, intelligent acceleration enables high-definition, smooth live broadcast, helping to upgrade the digital economy. Zhejiang Unicom provides differentiated broadband experience through dual-band intelligent optical cat eAI acceleration, Wi-Fi speed measurement reaches 610Mbps, user Wi-Fi status is visible in real time, and Wi-Fi realizes remote manageability and maintainability.

The fourth is the network of gigabit smart families. Fifth, the application of businesses and enterprises, comprehensively empowering the digital transformation of government and enterprises. According to Wang Guangquan, the combination of businesses and enterprises is the broadband network and the government-enterprise transmission network, which are combined to promote the services of different users. Sixth, the industrial park, the industrial PON efficiently carries the industrial Internet business. Based on the extensive connection using PON all-optical network as the base, it supports an industrial Internet platform to realize data sharing and serves N application scenarios.

Wang Guangquan puts forward several suggestions on how to jointly operate the new ecology of the gigabit optical network:
