According to CTOnews.com news on January 10, financial data show that Asustek, a major manufacturer of the PC brand, received NT $41.013 billion (about RMB 9.105 billion) in December 2022, a decrease of 10.3% from the previous month and 20.7% from the same period last year.

In addition, Asustek's revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was 127.075 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 28.211 billion yuan), down 12.2 percent from the previous month and 16.3 percent from the same period last year. Asustek's cumulative revenue in 2022 was 537.191 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 119.256 billion yuan), an increase of 0.4 percent over the same period last year.

Asustek said that the difficulty of counter-trend expansion and the pressure of industrial demand adjustment led to the volatility of financial profits in 2022. Following the first wave of industrial demand adjustment pressure in the second quarter, operations faced a deeper trough in the fourth quarter. Conservative consumer mentality, increased channel promotion spending, higher-than-expected inventory prices, sluggish sales in the peak season and other factors lead to tremendous pressure on single-quarter profits.

CTOnews.com learned that Asustek said it expects the economic and industrial uncertainty to continue into the first half of 2023, and the follow-up industry should be able to recover gradually from the trough, but the challenges persist.
