CTOnews.com, January 9, according to the latest news shared by Bloomberg Mark Mark Gurman, Apple will introduce a 15-inch MacBook Air with a larger screen this year, but not a 12-inch MacBook with Apple Silicone.

Gurman did not disclose any other details of the 15-inch MacBook Air. But Ross Young, chief executive of screen supply chain consultancy DSCC, has said that Apple's suppliers will start producing 15.5in screen panels for the MacBook Air in the first quarter of 2023, so he speculates that Apple will launch the laptop at a special spring event.

The MacBook Air has just undergone a redesign in 2022, so the 15-inch MacBook Air is similar or identical to the existing 13-inch models in appearance and may use M2 and M2 Pro chips.

Goolman had previously said that Apple had planned to launch a 12-inch MacBook by the end of 2023 or early 2024, but he said today that the model is no longer on Apple's recent roadmap.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple has released low-end and high-end 12-inch notebooks in the past. At the low end, Apple launched an ultra-thin 12-inch MacBook that weighs just two pounds in 2015, but the laptop was discontinued in 2019. On the high-end side, Apple offered a 12-inch PowerBook G4 in the mid-2000s.

The previous 12-inch MacBook was constrained by the use of Intel processors, but Apple's Apple Silicon has superior performance per watt, and if Apple decides to reintroduce the ultra-thin, fanless MacBook, then in theory Apple should be able to do so.
