According to reports, Hesai FT120 is a real pure solid-state lidar, without any moving parts inside, its laser emission and reception are completed entirely through chips, and the total number of components is greatly reduced compared with traditional lidar, thus greatly improving product reliability, production efficiency and mass production consistency, designed for large-scale mass production at the vehicle gauge level.

According to reports, FT120 carries the pure solid-state electronic scanning technology (E-Scanning) developed by Hesai for many years, and integrates an area array composed of tens of thousands of laser receiving channels on a single chip, realizing a leap from 1D to 2D.

FT120 is built based on a highly integrated architecture, which ensures excellent performance while being very compact, and can be flexibly installed on both sides of the fender, intake grille, rear bumper and other positions according to the actual demand, with a minimum exposed window size of 70mmx50mm (horizontal or vertical placement can be defined by the host factory), taking into account both function and beauty.

The radar has an ultra-wide field of view of 100 degrees x 75 degrees and a maximum range of 100 meters. It can instantly sense the high road signs, railings, three-dimensional garage mezzanine, etc., and can also sensitively capture the information of children, pets, cone buckets, zebra crossings and other objects in the lower places, so as to provide necessary blind perception around the car body.

CTOnews.com learned that FT120 also has high resolution. In single echo mode, FT120 has a point frequency of 192000 points per second and a global resolution of 160 (H) x120 (V), which can improve the overall driving safety of smart cars in urban intersection steering, vehicle congestion, active overtaking, automatic parking and other scenarios.

Wesai said 2022 was a year of high growth for the company, delivering 100000 lifetime lidar devices in December, a record milestone with partners including NVIDIA, Zoox and Nuro.

Hosai officials said that the strategic layout of the global market will continue in 2023, and the new intelligent manufacturing center will be put into operation this summer, which will increase the capacity of mass production and delivery to more than 1 million units per year.
