Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, January 8, AMD has officially updated the specification sheet of the Ryzen 7040 series "Phoenix Point" processor, detailing the I / O feature set of the processor. There are several details to pay attention to, including PCIe-Express channels, memory, and so on.

PCIe-Express Gen 5 is not supported

CTOnews.com learned that the Ryzen 7040 processor has 20 PCI-Express Gen 4 channels, all of which are "available" (that is, four channels that are not included in the chipset bus).

This means that the chip has a complete PCI-Express 4.0x16 interface for stand-alone graphics cards and a PCI-Express 4.0x4 for connecting M.2 NVMe slots.

For comparison, the client I / O mold in the "Raphael" desktop MCM and the "Dragon Range" mobile MCM provides a total of 28 Gen5 channels (24 are available, of which x16 PEG + two x4 are for the M.2 slot of the CPU connection).

Memory

Another concern about "Phoenix Point" is the memory type. The processor has a dual-channel DDR5 memory interface and also supports LPDDR5 and LPDDR5x.

The maximum memory rates are DDR5-5600 and LPDDR5-7500. What's really interesting is that the maximum amount of memory that supports 256GB is twice that of "Raphael" and "Dragon Range". This bodes well for AMD's Socket AM5 APU, which is ultimately based on the "Phoenix Point" chip.

Video card

The Ryzen 7040 series is equipped with a "Radeon 780m" processor, the new 780m is based on the latest RDNA3 graphics architecture, contains 12 computing units (768 stream processors) and has the same dual instruction release rate as the desktop Radeon RX 7900 series GPU; and the matrix mathematics accelerator, iGPU's engine clock is up to 2.90 GHz.

The "Phoenix Point" iGPU has been confirmed to use AMD's latest Radiance display engine, which supports DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR10 and HDMI 2.1, and natively supports single-line 8K 60 Hz display. It also features the latest VCN media engine with hardware-accelerated AV1 encoding up to 4K @ 240 Hz 10 bpc and 4320p @ 175 Hz 8 bpc H.265; and hardware-accelerated decoding of almost all standard resolutions / bit depth / frames of MPEG2, VC1, VP9, H.264, H.265 and AV1.

On TSMC's 4nm EUV contract manufacturing node, the "Phoenix Point" monolithic silicon chip covers an area of 178sq mm and has 25 billion transistors. In addition to iGPU, it also has a single 8-core "Zen 4" CCX. Each of the eight CPU cores has a dedicated secondary cache for 1MB and shares a third-tier cache for 32MB.
