According to the roadmap, Intel is about to launch the Persistent Memory 300 series codenamed "Crow Pass", which will be used in the next generation of Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids processors.

CTOnews.com learned that Intel's Aoton Persistent Memory 300 uses the DDR-T2 interface, which will be significantly better than the previous generation in terms of performance, with data rates ranging from 4000 MT / s to 4400 MT / s. This will bring the random bandwidth of each module to 3GB / s 2R1W and the sequential bandwidth to 6GB / s 2R1W.

Intel also promises a 25 per cent increase in opportunistic bandwidth per CPS. Although the speed of the new module is significantly higher than that of the previous generation, the power consumption is still about 15W.

Intel will continue to provide Optane persistent memory modules with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. Moreover, because Intel's upcoming Eagle Stream platform has an eight-channel memory subsystem, it will support 3DXPoint memory with the highest 4TB.

Another improvement of Intel's Crow Pass module is that it meets the requirements of FIPS140-3 level II. On the hardware side, these modules use AES-256 encryption like previous models.

Although Intel has officially abandoned its Optane memory business and will not have a new solid state drive based on 3DXPoint memory, the company will release another family of Optane persistent memory 300 series modules for its Eagle Stream platform, based on its fourth-and fifth-generation Xeon scalable processors, codenamed Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids.
