CTOnews.com, January 7, Microsoft recently launched a new Windows Core OS Platform blog that provides in-depth information about the basics of Windows.

Microsoft's Hari Pulapaka wrote in an introductory post: "the The Windows Core OS Platform team is mainly responsible for the core development of Windows systems, including virtualization platforms, chip support (Intel, AMD and Arm), kernels, storage file systems and super-converged storage infrastructure, including Spaces Direct."

"in addition, we have built and deployed a special Windows-based operating system for Azure Cloud. We have migrated old blogs that are completely focused on the Windows kernel to integrate all the technologies owned by the team," he continued.

Pulapaka noted that members of the team will use the Windows Core OS platform team blog to discuss the internal structure of the upcoming features of the Windows Core OS platform. The first non-introductory article discussed how the team provided a dedicated host operating system called Cloud Host for the Azure cloud.

Pulapaka said: "Cloud Host is a special console version of Windows (without GUI, some people also call it headless), an OneCore-based Windows version."

CTOnews.com Lecture: OneCore is the basic layer on which all Windows SKU (or versions) series build their functions. It is a set of components (executable, DLL, and so on) required by all versions of Windows (PC, Windows Server, XBOX, or IoT).

In contrast to programming analogies, it is the base class from which all Windows classes inherit (for example, Object). If you look inside OneCore to see what it provides, you can see the API set that provides core functions such as kernel, hypervisor, file system support, network, security, Win32 API, and so on.
