Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, January 6, according to the Biology Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Center for Excellence and Innovation of Molecular Cell Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a technique for monitoring mouse cell-cell dynamic contact and tracking the cell contact process by permanently labeling cell-to-cell contact.

The researchers turned cell-to-cell contact events into controllable transcriptional programs. In mice, the researchers introduced artificial ligands into one cell, called a sending cell, and an artificial receptor into another cell, a receiving cell. When the sending cell comes into contact with the receiving cell, the synthetic signal (Notch signal) will be triggered, and the downstream transcriptional program in the receiving cell will be further activated through the signal pathway to mark the contact event transiently or permanently.

▲ cardiac cell-to-cell contact monitoring using this technique, the researchers labeled contact events between developing cardiac endothelial cells (receiving cells) and neighboring cardiomyocytes (sending cells). The results show that the developing heart endothelial cells will migrate, and some of the blood vessels in the liver will come from the developing heart cells; the endothelial cells in the tumor will not only expand in the tumor, but also grow outward to the adjacent normal tissue. Has a strong ability to regenerate blood vessels.

This study provides a genetic system for recording the history of cell-cell contact and cell contact in vivo, which may be helpful to study the dynamic contact between cells and the plasticity of cell fate.

CTOnews.com learned that the research was recently published in the journal Science, entitled: Monitoring of cell-cell communication and contact history in mammals.
