Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, January 6, local time, Intel's self-driving subsidiary Mobileye announced that it has received a license proposal from T Ü V S Ü D, an independent third-party German provider of testing, certification, audit and consulting services, to run self-driving cars on German roads.

Mobileye said the license paved the way for Mobileye to expand its pilot in Germany, allowing Mobileye to run an Mobileye electric vehicle with a Mobileye Drive autopilot system and safety guards on all German roads.

According to reports, Mobileye chose to provide travel-as-a-service (MaaS) in Munich, Darmstadt and other parts of Europe together with ES8 and other partners in 2021. These ES8 are equipped with Mobileye's self-driving hardware and software and are planned to be used as self-driving taxis and feeder cars in Germany to integrate into the local public transport system.

The European Union and Germany issued regulations in 2022 aimed at ensuring the safety of self-driving car testing and deployment, and Mobileye said it would gradually accelerate the pilot travel-as-a-service project in Germany in 2023, subject to compliance.

CTOnews.com learned that these cars will be equipped with a safety guard when running until they have all the necessary approvals and permits for complete self-driving.

The tested ES8 has undergone a series of sensor modifications and is equipped with the Mobileye autopilot system Mobileye Drive, which has defined a specific operating design range (ODD).

Mobileye points out that the self-driving car has redundant sensing capabilities through 13 cameras and an independent auxiliary sensing system, including six surround radars, three long-range and six short-range lidars.
