Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced today that the company will cut 18000 jobs, up from 10000 expected at the end of last year.

Just yesterday, cloud computing giant Salesforce announced 10% layoffs, or about 8000 people. On the same day, media company Vimeo also announced an 11 percent layoff. As of December 2021, the company had approximately 1200 employees.

According to Layoff.fyi, a website that tracks job losses in the tech industry, more than 1000 tech companies worldwide, including Meta, Microsoft, Twitter and Snap, have laid off more than 150,000 people in the past 2022.

15. Facebook parent Meta is laying off 13 percent of its workforce, or about 11000.

16. Opendoor Technologies, a real estate trading platform, is laying off 18% of its workforce, or about 550 people.

17. Internet fitness platform Peloton laid off 12 percent of its workforce, or about 500 people, in October.

18. FinTech firm Plaid laid off 260 jobs.

19. Qualcomm said it had frozen hiring due to a severe decline in demand for mobile phones.

20. Cloud computing giant Salesforce announced 10 percent layoffs yesterday, or about 8000 jobs.

21. Hard drive maker Seagate said it would cut about 3000 jobs.

22. Payment services company Stripe is laying off 14 percent of its workforce, or more than 1000.

23. Twitter announced about 3700 job cuts late last year.

24. Upstart Holdings laid off 140 hourly workers.

Media and entertainment companies:

1. Entertainment company AMC Networks is laying off 20 percent of its workforce, or about 200 people.

2. Buzzfeed laid off 12 percent of its workforce last month, or about 180 people.

Gannett, America's largest newspaper group, laid off 400 people last year and announced about 200 more this month.

4. Digital media publisher G / O laid off 3 percent of its workforce, or about 11 people, in December.
