CTOnews.com reported on January 5 that hackers leaked data containing 235 million Twitter users on the forum. Citing Cybernews, the leaked data is about 63GB, including the user's name, email address, number of fans and the date the account was created. The database is even public, allowing anyone to download it.

CTOnews.com learned that Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli security company Hudson Rock, believes that hackers can use the recently leaked Twitter database to attack encrypted accounts, hack into high-profile and political accounts, infiltrate accounts with good user names, and attack accounts that do not use Twitter-specific e-mail. "there is no doubt that hacker organizations around the world will also use this database to further harm the privacy of our users," he said.

According to the Washington Post, the records were most likely leaked at the end of 2021 using a loophole in Twitter that allows outsiders with an e-mail address or phone number to find any account on Twitter that matches that information. These queries can be automated to check an unlimited number of phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
