CTOnews.com, January 5 (Xinhua)-- Howie Group has released a 1.2 micron pixel high resolution image sensor OV50H for smartphone rear cameras on CES 2023, which uses a 1.3inch optical format and supports a variety of HDR modes and high frame rates.

The OV50H is a 5000-megapixel image sensor designed for high-end smartphone rear cameras using dual conversion gain (DCG) technology, 1.2micron pixel and 1.3inch optical format.

OV50H uses Howie's PureCel Plus-S wafer stacking technology and H / V QPD autofocus technology, supporting 1250 megapixels (120fps) and high dynamic range (HDR) (60fps). It is the first sensor of Howie Group with horizontal / vertical (H / V) quadruple phase detection (QPD) function.

QPD can achieve 2x2 phase detection autofocus (PDAF) in the entire image array of the sensor, while H / V mode ensures that both horizontal and vertical directions are in the same frame with 100% coverage. This function can improve distance calculation, achieve faster autofocus, and improve low light performance.

Main highlights of OV50H:

Four-in-one pixel combination can achieve 1250 megapixel video and preview, with 2.4 micron equivalent sensitivity, excellent weak light performance, and support a frame rate of up to 120 frames per second with 4x low light sensitivity.

8K video, using on-chip pixel restoration algorithm; 4K video + electronic image stabilization, including 120fps (linear) and 60fps (HDR)

DCG HDR adopts on-chip combination and supports interlaced HDR, which can flexibly choose different HDR modes according to the scene, and supports interlaced HDR in crop zoom mode.

1250 megapixels (30 frames per second HDR) and dynamic range of 100+dB can be achieved when using DCG + ultra-short interlaced exposure HDR or three exposures interlaced HDR.

Support H / V QPD for excellent autofocus

Full 5000 megapixel Bayer output and 2x clipping zoom function

CTOnews.com learned that the Howie OV50H image sensor will be available in April 2023.
