CTOnews.com, January 4, according to the website of the State-owned assets Supervision and Administration Commission, on December 30, China's deep-sea oil and gas exploration and development took another solid step as the "Offshore Oil 982" drilling platform drilled its bit to a depth of 5000 meters and the second phase of the "Shenhai No. 1" gas field started construction.

"Shenhai No. 1" is the first ultra-deep water large gas field to be explored and developed independently in China. The first phase was successfully put into production on June 25, 2021, with a maximum well depth of more than 4000 meters and a cumulative production of more than 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

The second phase of the "Shenhai 1" project will develop the Lingshui 25-1 deepwater block, which is about 70 kilometers away from the "Shenhai 1" energy station, and deploy a total of 12 wells under the wellhead, which can increase the natural gas reserves of "Shenhai 1" from 100 billion cubic meters to 150 billion cubic meters. The peak annual production increased from 3 billion cubic meters to 4.5 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 90% of Hainan Island's natural gas consumption in 2021.

CTOnews.com learned that the project is also the first deepwater high pressure project in China, with a water depth of nearly 1000 meters, a formation pressure of 69 MPA and a high temperature challenge of 138C. In addition, the total drilling depth of the second phase of "Shenhai No. 1" project is more than 60000 meters, which is 2.2 times that of "Shenhai No. 1" Phase I.
