Qualcomm said that Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC is designed to support mixed critical-level workloads across heterogeneous computing resources, supporting digital cockpit, ADAS and AD functions with a single SoC.
According to reports, in order to achieve the highest level of automobile safety, Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC implements isolation, non-interference and quality of service control (QoS) functions from specific ADAS functions at the hardware architecture level, and builds a special safety island for vehicle safety integrity level D (ASIL-D). At the same time, the Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC pre-integrated software platform supports multiple operating systems to run at the same time, and supports management programs through isolated virtual machines and real-time operating systems (OS) that support the vehicle Open system Architecture (AUTOSAR). It meets the mixed critical workload requirements of driving assistant safety system, digital dashboard supporting configuration, infotainment system, driver monitoring system and parking assistance system.
Qualcomm noted that the Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC pre-integrated Snapdragon Ride vision software stack can use forward-looking cameras to meet regulatory requirements and enhance perception using multimodal sensors (multiple cameras, radar, lidar and maps) to create models of the vehicle's surrounding environment, which can be used to pass in vehicle control algorithms. The Snapdragon Ride vision software stack meets the requirements of the New car Evaluation Specification (NCAP) and the EU Automotive General Safety regulations (GSR), and can be extended upward to support a higher level of self-driving.
In addition, the Snapdragon Ride Flex series SoC is compatible with the broader SoC portfolio covered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon digital chassis platform. The Snapdragon Ride Flex series SoC is optimized for scalable performance, supporting central computing systems from entry level to high end and top level. With this feature, automakers are able to implement complex cockpit use cases, such as integrated dashboards that support immersive high-end images, infotainment and game displays, and rear entertainment screens, while creating an audio experience based on ultra-low latency and pre-integrated into the Snapdragon Ride vision software stack.
Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC can be developed using cloud native automotive software development workflows, including support for virtual platform simulation, which can be integrated as part of the cloud native development operation and maintenance (DevOps) and machine learning operation and maintenance (MLOps) infrastructure.
CTOnews.com has learned that the first Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC is now available and is expected to start mass production in 2024. Data show that Qualcomm's integrated automotive platforms, including Snapdragon cockpit platform, Snapdragon Automotive Zhaopin platform and Snapdragon Ride platform, continue to drive business growth, with total auto orders valued at more than $30 billion.
