CTOnews.com, January 4, according to the Taiwan Industrial and Commercial Times, the wafer foundry leader TSMC 3 nano process technology has entered mass production. According to semiconductor experts, the highest yield of TSMC 3 nm can reach 80%. Foreign media quoted sources that Qualcomm's next generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will purchase from Samsung and TSMC, while TSMC accounts for most of the chipsets, possibly because of the yield gap between the two.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is supplied exclusively by TSMC, but in November last year, foreign media quoted sources saying that Qualcomm intended to give Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 orders to Samsung because of doubts about TSMC's 3nm mass production, when TSMC delayed its 3nm production schedule.

CTOnews.com learned that TSMC 3nm has successfully entered mass production. Liu Deyin, chairman of TSMC, revealed in a speech at the 3nm mass production and expansion ceremony last week that the yield of the 3nm process is now equivalent to that of the 5nm process. Semiconductor experts conservatively estimate that the rate of 3 nanometers is about 60% to 70%, while other industry analysts estimate it to be 75% to 80%.

In terms of Samsung's 3-nm process, Taiwan media pointed out that there was news that Samsung not only encountered a bottleneck in mass production in the 4-nm process, but also had a yield of only about 10% to 20% in the 3-nm GAA process.
