First of all, the negative macroeconomic environment leads to a decline in consumer demand, especially in the entry-level mobile phone market. Second, the overstocking of channel inventory at the beginning of the quarter also depressed production in the quarter. The country's smartphone manufacturing ecosystem continues to grow, with nearly 63 per cent of shipments coming from internal manufacturers and 37 per cent from third-party EMS companies. OPPO led smartphone shipments in India in the third quarter with a 24% share, followed by Samsung and vivo. BYD and Lava are the fastest-growing manufacturers of smartphone shipments. In addition, the production related incentive Program (PLI) awards will be distributed in subsequent quarters, which is expected to expand the local manufacturing landscape. Looking to the future, as OEM manufacturers pay more and more attention to exports to other countries, manufacturing volume will increase. Increasing the scale of local value-added and exports has always been the main concern of the government under the made in India programme.
