2022 is destined to be an extraordinary year for the domestic new energy vehicle market, even under the influence of many unfavorable factors, such as chip shortage, rising battery prices and so on, judging from the published data from January to November 2022, the domestic production and retail data of new energy vehicles have doubled compared with the same period last year.

At the beginning of 2023, major new energy car companies routinely released monthly delivery data for December, along with transcripts for the whole of 2022. At the beginning of last year, the major car companies set sales targets for 2022. After a year of operation, we might as well pay attention to which car companies can complete the KPI set at the beginning of the year.

In terms of BYD's monthly sales in December and the annual sales in 2022, BYD and GAC Ean, two manufacturers with a background of traditional car companies, have handed over satisfactory transcripts. Among them, BYD is the best among all car companies.

BYD sold 235200 cars in December 2022, up 137.3% from a year earlier. BYD sold 1.8635 million vehicles in 2022, up 208.64% from a year earlier. Among them, the cumulative sales of DM hybrid models for the whole year were 946200 and EV pure electric models were 911100.

BYD in 2022 is definitely a phenomenon. BYD sold 730000 vehicles in 2021, of which 593800 new energy vehicles were sold, which is still the first echelon, but it is far from such an exaggeration. In just one year, sales have doubled directly, and BYD has set a new record for domestic car companies, and only BYD itself may be able to break this record in the future.

Judging from the sales target of 1.5 million vehicles set at the beginning of last year, BYD has exceeded its target.

Also overfulfilling the task was GAC Ean, which sold 30007 vehicles in December, up 107 per cent year-on-year and up 126 per cent over the same period last year. Ian set itself a target of 240000 vehicles at the beginning of the year and completed its full-year KPI by the end of November, a month ahead of schedule.

Gu Huinan, general manager of Ean, revealed at the Guangzhou Auto Show a few days ago that Ean aims to guarantee 500000 vehicles and rush 600000 vehicles in 2023, and its production and sales will exceed 1.5 million vehicles by 2030.

Ideal reached the top of the new power sales champion, the new power car company here, the ideal car with the results of 21233, became the "sales champion" of the new power of the month.

According to the official data released by ideal, a total of 21233 new cars were delivered in December 2022, the highest monthly delivery record again and a year-on-year increase of 50.7 per cent. For the whole of 2022, a total of 133246 ideal cars were delivered, an increase of 47.2% over 2021. As of December 31, 2022, the cumulative delivery of ideal cars is 257334.

Ideally, the target set for itself at the beginning of the year was 200000 vehicles, but in May it was thought to be more difficult to achieve this target, which was lowered to 170000 vehicles, but in the end, the target was not achieved. If calculated on the basis of 170000 vehicles, the final achievement rate was 78.4%.

Ideal released four new cars this year, from L9, L8 to L6, ending the previous ideal ONE. From the latest sales data, the monthly delivery volume of ideal L9 and ideal L8 is more than 10,000 vehicles, further consolidating its market position in the price range of 30-500000 yuan.

Weilai delivered 15815 new cars in December, also setting its own monthly delivery record, up 50.8% from the same period last year. In 2022, Weilai delivered a total of 122486 new cars, an increase of 34% over the same period last year. As of December 31, 2022, a total of 289556 new cars have been delivered.

In terms of specific models, Weilai successively delivered ET7, ES7 and ET5 based on the second-generation technology platform in 2022. The three models delivered 13127 vehicles in December, accounting for 83% of the total deliveries in that month, and have become the main delivery force, marking the smooth market switching of Weilai first-and second-generation platform models.

Judging from the sales target of 150000 vehicles set by Ulai, the final regret was not completed, with a success rate of 81.7 per cent.

In addition, Li Bin, chairman of Xilai, also announced his sales target for 2023 at the NIO Day held on December 24: surpassing Lexus fuel vehicle sales. According to the data, Lexus sold a total of 169000 vehicles from January to November this year, down 16.45% from a year earlier, with sales of about 226000 vehicles in 2021. As a result, Weilai's sales target for next year is about 200000 vehicles.

Xiaopeng, which has been bad-mouthed in the second half of the year, also ushered in a turnaround in December, delivering a total of 11292 vehicles, an increase of 94 per cent over the previous month. Of these, the G9 exceeded 4,000 for the first time, reaching 4020, an increase of 160 percent over the previous month. The cumulative delivery volume in 2022 was 120757 units, an increase of 23% over 2021. As of December 31, 2022, the cumulative delivery volume of Xiaopeng has reached 258710.

Xiaopeng announced at the beginning of the year that the 2022 sales target is to ensure 250000 vehicles, impact 300000 vehicles, and later set a target of 200000 vehicles. Because the goal set at the beginning was too high, the achievement rate was relatively low, only 60.4%.

Xiaopeng encountered some difficulties this year. The G9, the flagship model released in the second half of the year, did not sell well and did not meet expectations. Fortunately, the situation improved at the end of the year. Xiaopeng is expected to release three new cars in 2023, including a medium-sized SUV G7, which is currently highly hopeful. Whether the G7 can bear the banner of Xiaopeng's sales after its launch remains to be seen.

The rise of the second camp of new forces, such as Nezha and Zero, the rise of the second camp of car-building forces led by Nezha and Zero is a major trend in the new energy vehicle market in 2022, and the position of the head camp of "Wei Xiaoli" is no longer stable.

In terms of annual sales in 2022, Naha ranked first in New Power sales with a figure of 152000. Although the delivery volume halved in December, only 7795 vehicles were delivered, but with the accumulation of the first 11 months, Naga still ranked first.

According to the data released by Nezha Automobile, in December, Nezha U delivered 51021 vehicles for the whole year, an increase of 155% over the same period last year; Nezha V delivered 98847 vehicles for the whole year, an increase of 99% over the same period last year; and Nezha S has delivered a total of 2205 vehicles since it started delivery at the end of November, of which 2003 were delivered in December. By the end of December 2022, the total delivery of Nashi cars had reached 248050.

Nezha has a sales target of 150000 vehicles in 2022 and finally completed its annual KPI with 101.4%.

Besides Nashi, the upward trend of zero-running cars is also obvious. It delivered 8493 new cars in December and a cumulative total of 111168 in 2022, an increase of more than 154 per cent year-on-year.

Specific to all models, Zero C11 firmly ranked first in domestic B-class pure electric SUV in the whole year, and delivery in the fourth quarter increased by more than 120% compared with the same period last year. The extended range version of C11 will start delivery in the first quarter of 2023. Zero running T03 is the champion of selling five-door pure electric cars in the whole year, with a total delivery of more than 100000 cars.

The sales target of zero-running cars in 2022 is 120000, which has not been fully achieved, but in the end, the achievement rate of 92.6% is quite good.

Geely's polar krypton cars can be said to be a dark horse in the new energy car market this year, with monthly sales exceeding the 10,000 mark for three months in a row. It delivered 11337 vehicles in December, an increase of 1980.7 percent over the same period last year. In 2022, it delivered 71941 vehicles, exceeding the target of 70,000 vehicles at the beginning of the year, with a success rate of 102.8 percent.

It is worth mentioning that the average order amount of Polar Krypton 001 is more than 336000 yuan, which has exceeded the average price of the BMW 3-Series and is about 60, 000 yuan higher than the average price of Han EV. It is no exaggeration to say that polar krypton 001 is difficult to find a rival in the field of pure electric cars with a price of more than 300,000 yuan.

AITO delivered 10143 vehicles in December 2022, once again achieving monthly delivery of more than 10,000 vehicles, and a total of 76180 vehicles for the whole of 2022. The final result of the AITO question, which only began to be delivered in March 2022, is not outstanding, with a success rate of 95.2 per cent for the year-end target of 80,000.

Conclusion for such a report card, no matter whether the major car companies are satisfied or not, 2022 has passed after all. For the coming 2023, due to the official withdrawal of new energy state subsidies, the major car companies will face no small challenges. At present, more than 10 car companies have announced price increases one after another.

But the good news is that industry associations and other third-party organizations are generally cautiously optimistic about the development of new energy vehicles in 2023. The China Automobile Association predicts that sales of new energy vehicles in China will reach 9 million in 2023, up 35 per cent from a year earlier. It can be predicted that the competition in the new energy vehicle market will be more fierce in 2023.
