CTOnews.com, January 3, according to a report by South Korean media Maekyung, Samsung's MX division's revenue rose 13.3% from 28.42 trillion won in the second quarter of 2022 to 32.21 trillion won in the third quarter of 2022, but the company's operating profit fell from 3.36 trillion won in the second quarter of 2022 to 3.24 trillion won in the third quarter of 2022, or 3.6%.

The improvement in revenue is reported to be a direct result of increased sales of Samsung's high-end devices, especially collapsible smartphones such as Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, the increase in profits that the company could have made from increased sales of these devices was offset by higher prices for smartphone parts. The rise in component prices was so high that the company's operating profit fell 3.6 per cent despite an increase in sales.

The Galaxy S23 series of smartphones will feature more expensive components, including an overclocked version of Qualcomm's second-generation Snapdragon 8 SoC and a 200-megapixel main rear camera. If Samsung offers the Galaxy S23 series devices at the same price as the Galaxy S22 series, the company will make lower profits from its flagship product line, further reducing its operating profit. But if Samsung raises the price, the Galaxy S23 series will lose its competitiveness with Apple's iPhone 14 series.

Samsung is planning to offer the Galaxy S23 at the same price as the Galaxy S22, even if that means a further decline in the company's operating profit, the report said. That means Samsung may price the Galaxy S23 at $799, the Galaxy S23 + at $999 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra at $1199. CTOnews.com has learned that Samsung usually lowers the price of its phones over time, and Samsung may no longer do so for the Galaxy S23 series, which will increase the company's profits and remain competitive with the iPhone 15 series.
