CTOnews.com, January 3, Bloomberg quoted a Foxconn representative as saying that after several weeks of downturn, Foxconn plant capacity in Zhengzhou has returned to 90% of its peak capacity, and Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro supply has been greatly alleviated.

Li Junqiang, logistics manager of Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park, said that we are responsible for the distribution and transportation of all production materials and shipments in Foxconn's Zhengzhou Park. Yesterday, shipments reached an all-time high of 243 vehicles. The entire production situation has returned to the situation before the epidemic, and the overall operation is relatively stable.

Wang Xue, deputy general manager of Foxconn Zhengzhou Park, said that since December 2022, Foxconn has optimized the configuration of upstream and downstream to ensure the immediate and adequate supply of production materials. As of December 30, 2022, the shipment volume of the park has reached about 90% of the peak scheduled at the beginning of 2022. At present, orders are in good condition, and production will peak in the months before and after the Spring Festival.

Wang Xue said that at present, the labor consumption of Foxconn's Zhengzhou park is stable at about 200000 people. In order to encourage employees to support production on the spot, Foxconn has introduced a salary incentive policy, and employees can receive up to 13000 yuan per month in stable job subsidies.

The availability of Apple's iPhone 14 Pro has gradually begun to improve, with the waiting time for most configurations on the US website showing only one to two weeks, compared with more than a month at the height of the shortage.

In the past few months, supply chain disruptions have been caused by a number of factors, resulting in heavy production of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, with the latter being the most affected. At its worst, Apple issued a press release saying that the iPhone 14 Pro was "cutting production," and they expected shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro within weeks or even a month.

CTOnews.com has reported that market research firm TrendForce expects total iPhone shipments to be about 47 million in the first quarter of next year, down 22% from a year earlier and below expectations of 56 million released at the end of October. These data include all iPhone models.

Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant is sometimes referred to as "iPhone City", and at one point Zhengzhou completed 85 per cent of the production of the iPhone Pro lineup, according to market research firm Counterpoint Research.

In addition, Foxconn has moved some iPhone production to other plants in Shenzhen. Despite the ups and downs of short-term production, supply chain sources say Apple is looking at the medium to long term to diversify its supply chain and expand its production / assembly base to more locations.
