Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu and Coje_He for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, January 3, Statcounter recently released its December 2022 browser share report, revealing the latest browser share.

Overall, Google Chrome browser remains firmly in the first place, while Edge, Safari and Firefox continue to compete for second place.

Chrome currently has a 66.16% market share for desktop browsers, according to Statcounter. In December 2022, Google's browser fell by only 0.02 percentage points (down from 66.18% in November 2022), which may just be the margin of error.

Microsoft Edge became the second most popular desktop browser with 10.99% (down 0.18%), Apple Safari ranked third with 8.98% (down 0.61%), Firefox Firefox ranked fourth with 7.22% (up 0.12%), and Opera ranked fifth with 3.29% (down 0.3%).

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft's Edge browser as a dark horse has steadily risen to 10.99% from December 2019 to December 2022, while Firefox Firefox has seen a significant decline, from about 10% at the beginning of 2020 to 7.22% today.

In terms of mobile browsers, Google Chrome still ranks first with 64.2%, Apple Safari ranks second with 23.59% due to iOS's unique ecological advantage, and Samsung browser ranks third with 5.09% due to its huge mobile phone shipments.
