Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com January 2 news, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney hinted that "Fortnite" will return to iOS and iPadOS in 2023.
Since August 2020, Epic has been removed from App Store by Apple after violating the rules of Apple's payment system, leading Epic to file a lawsuit against Apple. In a tweet commemorating the New year, Tim Sweeney seems to think progress will be made in 2023.
In a January 1 tweet, Sweeney posted a brief message: "next year on iOS!" In the reply, Sweeney shared a picture from the game "Fortnite".
Sweeney did not elaborate, but it is speculated that he is hinting that "Fortnite" will return to App Store this year, but this will require a major settlement between Apple and Epic. Given that the appeal process for the lawsuit is still ongoing, this may take some time to complete.
In an interview in December, Sweeney said he would fight Apple to the Supreme Court if it was a necessary condition for victory. "We will keep fighting as long as we can get what we ask for," Sweeney said. "if Apple is willing to settle this, we will solve it today."
It is also possible that Epic will build its own iOS app store. Because in Europe, the Digital Market Act will force Apple to allow third-party application markets to exist on iPhone and iPad. If Apple has no objection, the law could cause Apple to launch the feature in the fall of 2023, but Apple's resistance could push the change until 2024.
However, it was reported on December 13 that Apple was already making changes to its software and services to comply with these rules, including enabling a third-party app store without App Store itself.
CTOnews.com learned that in early December, Sweeney continued to attack Apple and its policies under the pretext of anti-competition, comparing Apple's management of app stores to railway monopolies blocking refineries from using infrastructure.
