Avatar 2 claims to be one of the most expensive movies ever made. While Cameron did not disclose the exact cost, he has said that a movie would have to hit $1.4 billion worldwide to start making money, and that it would have to be in the top three box office categories-about $2 billion-to be considered profitable. The exact cost of Avatar 2 has not been officially disclosed, with rumors ranging from a production cost of $350 million to $400 million to $460 million excluding marketing expenses.

Avatar 2 took in $1.379 billion worldwide as of Jan. 1. North American box office 421.6 million US dollars, the trend is still strong.
