CTOnews.com January 2 news, ETNews reported that Intel will launch a new Sapphire Rapids series CPU to bring DDR5 support to the server market, but it will not be mass production until the second quarter, or even significant results until the second half of the year.

In addition, industry insiders say Intel will expand its production of (ramp-up) Sapphire Rapids in May. Intel is said to be officially released on January 10, but only a small number of samples are expected to be available initially.

At present, Samsung Electronics has developed 16Gb DDR5 DRAM,SK Hynix, which uses 12nm technology, and developed ultra-high-speed DDR5 DRAM for servers, but because there is no CPU that supports DDR5, the new generation data center can not be supplied normally, so it is only used for some testing purposes.

"if data center companies conduct on-site verification, actual DDR5 DRAM sales may not be possible until the third or fourth quarter," said Park Jae-geun, president of the Korean Semiconductor display Technology Society (Hanyang University).

CTOnews.com has reported that Sapphire Rapids-WS processors may be called the Xeon W 3400 series after they are on the market. These processors will use Intel's new W790 platform and provide up to 56 cores, 8 DDR5 memory channels and 112 PCIe channels. In addition, these CPU will be based on a high-performance Golden Cove-derived core with AVX-512 and AMX instructions enabled.
