Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thank CTOnews.com netizens for the clue delivery of the little alarm bell that can sing! CTOnews.com, January 2 (Xinhua)-- Apple has closed its acquired weather app, Dark Sky, from January 1, 2023. The app was removed from App Store last September and will be closed to existing users from now on.
Apple bought the Dark Sky Weather app in March 2020 and has since incorporated many of its features into the weather App pre-installed on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Recently, Apple shared a support document about how Dark Sky users use the pre-installed weather app, which now offers "specific small area" forecasts, including precipitation for the next hour, hourly forecasts for the next 10 days, high-resolution radar images, and severe weather notifications.
CTOnews.com was informed that in order to use the Dark Sky function in weather applications, users' devices must be updated to iOS 16, iPadOS 16 or macOS 13 Ventura systems. Some features are currently available only in specific countries.
Apple will also shut down Dark Sky's API for third-party weather apps on March 31 this year and launch its own WeatherKit API as an alternative.
