Professor Qiu Guanyuan, a famous expert in the field of circuit theory in China and a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Electrical and Electronic Teaching experiment Center of the School of Electrical Engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University, died of illness at 13:00 on December 29, 2022 at the age of 99.

Professor Qiu Guanyuan was born in Shanghai on June 11, 1923. He graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Northwest Institute of Technology in 1947. After graduation, he successively taught in Northwest Institute of Technology and Xi'an Institute of Power. Since 1957, he has been a lecturer and associate professor in the Teaching and Research Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University. He was promoted as a professor in 1980 and was approved as a doctoral instructor of theoretical Electrical Engineering by the academic degree Committee of the State Council in 1986. He retired in 1994.

Professor Qiu Guanyuan has been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of circuit theory for a long time. He has successively compiled textbooks such as basic Electrotechnics (1989), Circuits (principles I) (1978), introduction to Network Graph Theory (1978), Circuits (revised) (1982), Circuits (third Edition) (1989 and 1990), Circuits (fourth Edition) (1999) and so on. Nearly 100 academic papers and teaching research papers have been published at home and abroad.

CTOnews.com learned that the "Circuit" series of textbooks edited by Professor Qiu Guanyuan have been widely praised and have been used in more than 700 universities across the country. Among them, the "Circuit (revised)" edited by Professor Qiu Guanyuan won the "National Outstanding Teaching Materials Award" in 1988, and the "Circuit (Fifth Edition)" revised by Qiu Guanyuan and Luo Xianjue won the first prize in the first National textbook Construction Award in 2021. Professor Qiu Guanyuan was the vice chairman of the theoretical Electrotechnical Committee of China Electrotechnical Society in 1984 and won the honorary title of "Advanced worker of Xi'an Jiaotong University" in 1985.

The School of Electrical Engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University said that Professor Qiu Guanyuan was indifferent to fame and wealth all his life, had students all over the world, and was deeply loved by the broad masses of teachers and students. Professor Qiu Guanyuan is a famous expert in the field of circuit theory in China. it has great influence in the fields of active filter, switched capacitor network, nonlinear theory, fully integrated current mode circuit theory, analog circuit fault diagnosis theory, neural network theory and so on. He is the first doctoral supervisor and leader of the doctoral program of electrical theory and new technology in our university. he has trained more than 40 doctoral and master's degree students, many of whom have become national leaders. Professor Qiu Guanyuan has successively compiled three graduate textbooks, including "Network Theory Analysis", "Electric Network Theory" and "Modern Circuit Theory", which have been widely used and have made important contributions to the training of postgraduates in our country.
