CTOnews.com December 31 news, recently there are reports that Samsung's existing Galaxy S22 series may not reach the 30 million sales target before the Galaxy S23 series is officially released. Another report said sales of Samsung's flagship models were sluggish, with the mid-range Galaxy A series accounting for most sales. In order to reduce the impact on profit margins, Samsung may consider raising the price of the Galaxy S23 series.

According to Korean media reports, Samsung Mobile's revenue in the third quarter increased by 13.3% year-on-year, but operating profit decreased by about 3.6%. Fourth-quarter financial results are also expected to be lower than last year, mainly because high-end phone sales are struggling to support rising parts costs and low-end models are not profitable.

CTOnews.com understands that Samsung Galaxy S23 series may use new components with higher prices, such as a customized version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and a new camera. For Samsung, if the price remains unchanged, it will reduce profit margins; if the price is raised, the Galaxy S23 series may lose its competitiveness with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.

South Korean media reported that Samsung has not yet made a decision on Galaxy S23 series pricing. But considering Apple is on track to overtake Samsung as the biggest smartphone seller this quarter, the South Korean company is likely to keep the same price as the upcoming generation, namely $799 for the Galaxy S23,$999 for the Galaxy S23 Plus and $1199 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
