CTOnews.com, December 31, last month it was reported that Qualcomm was developing a powerful desktop CPU. Sources say the CPU, code-named "Hamoa", uses a 12-core design of 8x4 and is expected to be launched in 2024. The CPU will also support unique display.

Although there is still more than a year to go before the official release of the chip, the relevant information about the chip has been released. Sources say the chip has eight performance cores and four efficiency cores.

CTOnews.com learned that chips codenamed "Hamoa" will be available in both SC8380X and SC8380XP models. From the model name, it should be the successor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 (model SC8280).

The chip is also equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X655G modem, the report said. This suggests that the chipmaker wants to combine desktop CPU with an integrated 5G modem, but it is not clear whether the modem will be included in the chip.

The chip codenamed "Hamoa" uses the latest UFS 4.0 to connect to flash memory, which increases transfer speed and further optimizes performance.

The Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360notebook with Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 processor will be released on January 16, 2023. This laptop uses Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 computing platform. Compared with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, system-level performance is improved by up to 57%, and multitasking performance is improved by up to 85%.

It is also equipped with Qualcomm Adreno GPU, which is 60 per cent better than Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. The laptop also uses Qualcomm's FastConnect 6900 system technology to support Wi-Fi 6e fast and smooth connectivity.
