CTOnews.com, December 31 (Xinhua) Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita (Todd Rokita) announced that Google will pay $20 million to Indiana to resolve the state's lawsuit over the technology giant's alleged fraudulent location-tracking practices.

Rokita said that even limited location data can reveal a person's identity and daily life, which can infer the user's personal details, such as politics or beliefs, income, health or support group participation-as well as major life events such as marriage and children.

When negotiations between Google and the alliance of state attorneys general stalled, he filed a separate lawsuit against Google. CTOnews.com learned that the states agreed to a $391.5 million settlement with the company last November, but Indiana was not part of the 40-state settlement.

As part of the settlement Google now needs to clearly and prominently disclose its location tracking methods to users including letting them know whether the product is tracking their location even if they are not using the product.
