Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com The fourth quarter of 2022 (Q4) is about to pass, making it the first quarter in 22 years that Apple has not released a new Mac model, as previously expected devices, the next generation MacBook Pro and Mac Pro models, have been postponed to 2023.

Historically, Apple has released at least one new Mac model every year since the launch of the iBook G3 in 2001, in the fourth quarter between October and December. That means a new Mac is released at the end of each year throughout the lifecycle of the product line, which includes iPod, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple's latest Mac is the M2 MacBook Air, which launched July 15. Apple is expected to wait a long time before releasing other new Mac products.

While it is widely rumored that the new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models will appear before the end of 2022, that timeframe is also supported by some mass production predictions, but as 2022 draws to a close, it is now almost certain that these devices have been significantly delayed. Earlier, South Korean blogger yeux1122 revealed that the new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models won't be available until around March next year, and the MacBook Pro delay has become clear for the first time. Bloomberg Mark Gurman said in October that the next wave of new Mac products will be released in the first quarter of 2023, including updated versions of MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Mac Pro.

Overall, this will delay the launch of the next-generation MacBook Pro model by up to six months. Mark Gurman expects few other upgrades for the next-generation MacBook Pro beyond the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, but expects updates to the associated high-bandwidth memory and port specs.

The Apple Silicon Mac Pro is another device that was once strongly expected to launch by the end of 2022, largely because it aligns with Apple's desire to transition the entire Mac family to Apple Silicon chips within two years. At the Peek Performance event earlier this year, Apple even announced that Apple Silicon Mac Pro would be launched. Apple is said to be ready to launch the Mac Pro in the M1 series in 2022, but the company seems to have given up on hoping to bring even greater performance and efficiency leaps next year.

CTOnews.com has learned that Mark Gurman recently said that Apple is likely to have canceled plans for the "M2 Extreme" chip, but the new Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip will still be launched in 2023.
