CTOnews.com, December 30 (Xinhua)-- NETGEAR issued a security announcement on Wednesday urging users to deploy upgrades as soon as possible. Netware said that the latest firmware version fixed a pre-authentication buffer overflow security vulnerability, involving RAX40, RAX35 and other Wi-Fi routers.

Netware did not share more details about the vulnerability. Foreign science and technology media Bleeping Computer explained that hackers can launch attacks including denial of service and execution of arbitrary code by taking advantage of buffer overflow vulnerabilities.

CTOnews.com learned that Netware provides a complete list of WiFi routers affected by a security vulnerability, as well as firmware versions in each router that fix the vulnerability. The affected equipment can be downloaded by visiting the official website of NetWare.
