JPMorgan Chase found that the waiting time for US consumers to order the latest iPhone Pro has been reduced, from as long as 40 days before. In the United States and China, Apple's website shows that the waiting time for the Pro model is about one to two weeks. In many Apple stores in both countries, certain Pro models and colors are available immediately.

The division that produces iPhone at Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant is already recovering and currently has a capacity of about 70 per cent, according to analysts and people familiar with the supply chain. At the same time, Foxconn is still trying to restore the rest of its capacity.

TrendForce, a market research firm, says labor shortages are affecting China's supply chain. The company expects total iPhone shipments of about 47 million units in the first quarter of next year, down 22% from a year earlier and below expectations of 56 million released at the end of October. These data include all iPhone models.

Foxconn's Zhengzhou plant, sometimes referred to as the "iPhone city", gathered as many as 300000 employees during peak production of iPhone and other Apple products. At one point, Zhengzhou completed 85% of the production of the iPhone Pro lineup, according to Counterpoint Research, a market research company.

Foxconn has moved some of its iPhone production to other plants in Shenzhen. Despite short-term ups and downs in production, supply chain sources say Apple is looking at the medium to long term to diversify its supply chain to more places outside China, such as India and Vietnam.

Foxconn has always assembled iPhone in India and has recently stepped up technical support to produce some new iPhone models at the same time as Chinese factories.
