Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, December 30 (Xinhua)-- the Mesa open source 3D driver has come a long way in the coming 2022. The Valve development team has increased its investment in the open source 3D graphics driver stack; AMD is also an important contributor to Mesa; Apple's AGX Gallium3D driver is beginning to take shape; and Microsoft continues to implement various functions on Windows based on Mesa.

According to Mesa's GitStats, there are as many as 164638 proposals from about 1306 different authors in the Mesa Git repository. There are approximately 4507217 lines of code, documents, tests, and so on in the Mesa Git repository.

In terms of proposals, Mesa is almost the same as last year, making it the most frequently submitted year in history. So far, with only two days left this year, Mesa has 14830 proposals, compared with an all-time high of 15026 in 2021.

The number of proposals this year is slightly higher than 14729 proposals in 2020. But Mesa did experience record growth this year, thanks to the addition of new lines of code.

Last year, Mesa added 1125814 code lines and deleted 943405 code lines, or a net increase of 182000 code lines. But this year Mesa saw 1382754 new lines of code, deleted 665472 lines of code, and net added 717000 lines of code. The net income from Mesa3D development is much larger than last year or any previous year.

CTOnews.com has learned that the most productive Mesa developers of all time are still Brain Paul (founder of Mesa3D, currently at VMware), Marek Olsak (AMD), Emma Anholt (former Intel and Broadcom, now Google), Jason Ekstrand (former Intel, now Collabora) and Ken Graunke (Intel).

This year, on a submission basis, the most productive contributor to the Mesa code base is Mike Blumenkrantz, who contributed 10.3 per cent (1538 submissions) to Mesa. Blumenkrantz is working for Valve, focusing on the implementation of Zink OpenGL-on-Vulkan. This is the second year in a row that Blumenkrantz has become the number one contributor to Mesa.
