CTOnews.com, December 30 (Xinhua)-- Amazon has begun piloting drone delivery services in California and Texas. In addition to showing off another delivery drone, Amazon said its Amazon Prime Air delivery service has shipped a small number of packages in Lockeford, Calif., and College Station.

CTOnews.com learned that Amazon received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) two years ago to conduct drone delivery tests and was awarded the title of "air carrier" by the authorities.

Similar to the traditional Amazon express service, users will receive tracking information about the order and estimated delivery time after purchasing products that comply with Amazon's Amazon Prime Air service. It's just that this product is delivered through drones.

CTOnews.com learned that the Prime Air Drone Delivery Center (PADDC) service between Rockfield, Calif., and Texas University City runs five days a week, every day during the day. Rockfield is a small rural town in California with a population of 3500, while the university town is a medium-sized city in Texas.
