CTOnews.com, December 29 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- one of Apple's major mini-LED suppliers said that demand for consumer displays is shrinking, while demand for mini-LED for other uses is rising as Apple plans to move its iPad and MacBook production lines to OLED displays in the next few years.

The DigiTimes report quoted industry sources from Epistar, which has provided Apple with mini-LED displays for some time, that demand for mini-LED displays for consumer electronic devices is declining and demand for mini-LED displays for dashboards and car displays is expected to surge in 2023.

Samsung is now giving priority to developing specific types of OLED displays that Apple plans to use in its new iPad Pro models, according to the report. Apple is expected to announce its first iPad Pro with OLED displays in 2024, drawing attention from mini-LED suppliers to other applications of its screens, according to DigiTimes.

CTOnews.com has learned that in addition to the OLED iPad Pro, it has been revealed that Apple will launch a 13-inch MacBook Air with an OLED display in 2024. Apple is also considering using OLED panels in new iPhone SE models, but is still discussing whether to use LCD or OLED displays, according to display analyst Ross Young.
