The report shows that the proportion of hot papers in China continues to grow in the world, and the number of hot papers in the world ranks first for the first time. The number of highly cited papers continues to rank second in the world, accounting for an increase of nearly 3 percentage points in the world share.

CTOnews.com learned that hot papers are papers published in the past two years, which have been cited a large number of times in the last two months and have entered the top 1 ‰ of the discipline. On the other hand, highly cited papers are among the top 1% of papers cited by various disciplines in the world from 2011 to 2021.

Statistics show that as of September 2022, the number of hot papers in China was 1808, accounting for 41.7% of the world total, rising to the first place in the world; the number of highly cited papers was 49900, and the world ranking remained at No. 2, accounting for nearly 3 percentage points of the world share; and the number of high-level international journal papers was 80500, ranking first.

In addition, according to the statistics of the number of international papers cited, China ranks first in the world in the fields of agricultural science, material science, chemistry, computer science and engineering technology, an increase of one field over the previous year.

The report also points out that China continues to rank second in the world in terms of the number of papers published in top international journals. In 2021, there were 18 top international journals with more than 100,000 citations and impact factors exceeding 30. A total of 32100 papers were published in 2021. China published 2045 academic papers and review articles, ranking second in the world, the same as in 2020.

Moreover, the number of high-level international co-authored papers in China has increased steadily, and the proportion of Chinese-dominated co-authored papers is close to 1/3.

In addition, in recent years, the overall output of excellent scientific and technological papers in China has continued to grow, and the number of high-level international co-authored papers has also increased steadily. At present, the international influence of Chinese sci-tech periodicals is further improved. statistics show that with the continuous improvement of the influence of Chinese sci-tech periodicals, more and more important scientific research journals have been published in domestic sci-tech journals.
