For an example of address summary configuration, the topology diagram is as follows: R2 connects multiple network segment addresses (especially this continuous IP address should be used for network summary), and R4 is also configured with a lot of network segment information.

R2 and R1 belong to the AREA 1 area of the OSPF protocol, R1 and R3 belong to the AREA 0 backbone area, and R3 and R4 use the RIP protocol.

The loopback 0 addresses of the four routers are 1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2, respectively, and 3.3.3.3 and 4.4.4, respectively.

The entire topology is interconnected by configuring route redistribution for the OSPF and RIP protocols. And integrate the addresses on R2 and R4.

The configuration on R1. First of all, to configure IP, the IP address of loopback 0 is not only the management address but also the router-id address in OSPF. Finally, configure the OSPF routing protocol.

The configuration above R2 (see the figure clearly), there are four IP addresses connected to the external network, especially the IP addresses connected together should be configured with address summarization. Here I use loopback as the simulated external network of each network segment.

The following is the configuration information for configuring R2 routing OSPF.

The configuration above SW3. Two routing protocols, RIP and OSPF, need to be configured on this router. Route redistribution is needed. I have already written two articles about the detailed configuration of route redistribution.

The configuration above SW4. This router only belongs to the RIP protocol, so only configure the RIP protocol. The other is to configure the IP address of each analog external network.

Let's first take a look at the routing table of R1, where there are a lot of routing entries.

The following is the highlight of this article, although there is only one command, but the principle and configuration are still very important. The point is: ① this command needs to calculate what the final configured network segment is. For interarea routing, ② only needs to be configured on the router that declares the segment information (ABR).

This is just the configuration of the internal route summary, and you can see that there are not so many route entries again after the configuration is complete.

The following is to view the routing table information on R3. Nowadays, there are also many interarea routing entries.

Next, configure an external route summary information on the ASBR router. And view the routing table again.

Summary of experience: be careful not to configure the wrong router when configuring CIDR, and do not make mistakes in the configuration of interarea routes and external route summary configuration commands.
