CTOnews.com, December 29 (Xinhua) Apple faces a new class action lawsuit in the United States because the iPhone package does not contain a charger. Plaintiff Elizabeth Steines argued that Apple began selling iPhone without a charger last year, but did not make it clear to consumers, resulting in consumers not knowing that the iPhone was an "incomplete product lacking basic functions."

In the class action, Steines argued that Apple only indicated in the small font on the back of the iPhone box that the package contained Lighting cables, and that power adapters and headphones were sold separately.

CTOnews.com learned that Steines argued that the iPhone sold without a charger "cannot meet its intended use (telephones and microcomputers) because it requires electricity or energy to operate". Consumers who buy a new iPhone and do not yet own a charger are forced to spend more money, eventually raising the price of the product.

Apple claims that its decision not to include a charger in the iPhone package is for environmental reasons. But according to Steines, Apple "could have taken other measures to promote environmental sustainability" rather than "products will not be available unless additional purchases are made".

Steines accused Apple of unjust enrichment, fraud, negligence, misrepresentation and breach of contract, and violated the Magnusamos Warranty Act, multiple state consumer fraud laws and the Illinois Consumer Fraud and fraudulent Business practices Act.
