CTOnews.com, December 28, Sinopec announced another breakthrough in "deep geotechnical engineering". Well Yuanshen-1, a risk exploration well deployed by Sinopec in Sichuan Basin, was successfully drilled with a depth of 8866 meters (8848.86 meters above sea level of Mount Qomolangma), breaking the record for a vertical well held by Sinopec Rentan-1 in Sichuan Basin.

The well reaches the deepest buried oil and gas reservoir in Sichuan Basin, which further shows the good exploration potential of deep ancient carbonate rocks in northern Sichuan.

▲ Tuyuan Sinopec CTOnews.com learned that on the same day, Sinopec officially unveiled its "Sichuan-Chongqing Natural Gas Base", which mainly includes five units, including Southwest Petroleum Bureau, Exploration Branch, Zhongyuan Oilfield, Jianghan Oilfield, and East China Petroleum Bureau.

This is the third base named after "Deep ground Engineering Shunbei Oil and Gas Field Base" and "Deep ground Engineering Jiyang Shale Oil Base" launched by Sinopec.

According to reports, the deepest well Yuanshen 1 reaches the hilly beach gas reservoir at the edge of the platform of Dengying formation, which is currently the deepest buried oil and gas reservoir in Sichuan Basin. In the process of drilling, it is found that the porous reservoir and 72 meters of oil and gas can still be seen in the ultra-deep carbonate rock which is located more than 8700 meters underground. Yuanshen-1 well is deployed by Sinopec Exploration Branch and drilled by 90127 drilling team in Southwest working area of Zhongyuan Petroleum Engineering. Prior to this, Sinopec's Rentan-1 well set a record of 8445 meters for a vertical well in Sichuan Basin.
