Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com, December 28, according to CCTV news, the new energy base project in Kubuqi Desert officially started construction today in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. It is the world's largest wind power photovoltaic base project developed and built in desert, Gobi and desert areas, and it is also the first 10 million kilowatt new energy base project in China.

The total investment of the project is more than 80 billion yuan, with a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, including 8 million kilowatts of photovoltaic and 4 million kilowatts of wind power, supporting the renovation and expansion of 4 million kilowatts of advanced high-efficiency coal-fired power plants, with multi-scale and multi-type energy storage of about 400-6 million kilowatt hours.

CTOnews.com learned that Kubuqi Desert is the seventh largest desert in China. It is located in the north of Yikezhao League (now Ordos City) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous region and on the south bank of the Yellow River. The terrain is almost parallel to the Yellow River and is located in the northern part of the Ordos Plateau, covering an area of 18600 square kilometers.

The new energy base project in the north-central Ordos of Kubuqi Desert was successfully approved on August 3, 2022, becoming the first project of the national "Shage wasteland" base. The project takes "external prevention and internal governance + integrated development" as the main principle, builds an integrated base of "green energy + ecological governance" as the core goal, and builds a three-dimensional green ecosystem that integrates power generation, sand control and planting. It can not only ensure the reliable power generation of new energy equipment in desert areas, but also improve the ecological efficiency of the base and promote the development of industrial integration. The electricity generated by the project will be sent to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in the form of integrated scenery, fire and storage, relying on the proposed HVDC transmission channel from Mengxi to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in the National Power Plan of the 14th five-year Plan.

The project pilot project started today by Inner Mongolia Energy Planning, Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. is responsible for the EPC general contract, planning and construction of 1 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation, and configuration of corresponding energy storage, the project site is located in Zhaojun Town, the center of the site is about 36 kilometers away from Dharat Banner, the transition delivery scheme will be adopted in the initial stage of production, two 220kV booster stations will be built, and the 500kV Xiangshawan substation will be connected nearby. Final adjustment to centralized delivery with Kubuqi base project.
