CTOnews.com, December 28 (Xinhua)-- following the Qi wireless charging standard, the WPC Wireless charging Alliance began to develop a new standard Ki specification for wireless power for kitchen appliances.

The Qi standard frees mobile phones from the shackles of wires, and the Ki wireless kitchen standard aims to eliminate the need for power lines for kitchen appliances. Wireless appliances are easier to clean and store, and more convenient to use. Moreover, the two-way communication between electrical appliances and power transmitters also provides a broader space for the development of intelligent functions of electrical appliances.

CTOnews.com learned that small household appliances, such as rice cookers, toasters, blenders, coffee makers, air fryers, etc., can be powered simply by placing them on power transmitters installed in enabled induction cookers or neatly hidden under any standard non-metallic countertop, stove or table. These appliances are supplied by inductive power supply without the hindrance of wires.

The WPC Wireless Power Alliance Ki specification working group made an important milestone in the second quarter of 2022: of the nine manuals that make up the specification, the fifth has been completed.

Among them, "Power Transmission" is the core of Ki specification, which can create conditions for independent design of interoperable power transmitters and wireless appliances with power up to 2.2kW. It defines the key requirements for building power transmitters and receivers and describes in detail the mode of power transmission.

The Ki Specification working Group is continuing to develop the remaining manuals that make up the specification, including the development of certification tests and the development of plug-in test plans.

If enterprises want to put their wireless appliances on the market first, the introduction of this specification is the key. The draft Ki specification is only available for review by members of the WPC Wireless charging Alliance. If enterprises want to obtain the specification as soon as possible, or want to participate in the compilation of the specification content, they need to join the WPC Wireless charging Alliance.
