With the exit of the "home economy" effect of the epidemic and the sharp freeze in consumer electronics demand caused by the overall economic downturn, Client SSD will be the most obvious slowdown in demand in the future, which in turn limits the overall NAND Flash demand bit growth, which is expected to grow at an annual rate of less than 30 per cent in 2022-2025, the report said.

In terms of capacity, the capacity of Client SSD in notebook computers in 2022 has exceeded 500GB Magi 512GB Client SSD. After the recent rapid decline in price, it has been close to 256GB quotation half a year ago, or even close to the same capacity HDD, so that PC OEM can accelerate the use of 512GB capacity, but it may be difficult to upgrade to 1TB or above SSD configuration.

In terms of low capacity, it is reported that UFS may also replace low-capacity Client SSD usage in the long term. However, TrendForce Jibang Consulting believes that due to the recent obvious decline in SSD, the narrowing of the price gap with UFS, and the platform host still can not natively support UFS 3.1 speed, so at present PC OEM believes that UFS in the case of no obvious price advantage, there is no big incentive to import, it is necessary to wait for the price advantage to appear and the platform host to start native support before there is a chance to appear.

CTOnews.com learned that TrendForce Group Consulting estimates that the overall Client SSD demand bit growth rate in 2022-2023 will be 4.3% and 11.6% respectively, and the average carrying capacity growth rate will also decrease from 18.2% in 2022 to 9.6% in 2023. In the future, the momentum of global NAND Flash demand bit growth will be driven by Enterprise SSD.
