CTOnews.com, December 27 (Xinhua)-- Research firm Strategy Analytics released a report today that Qualcomm's reliance on Apple and Samsung Electronics is once again in the spotlight. By 2023, Qualcomm will have 100 per cent market share in Galaxy S and iPhone, and Qualcomm will benefit from this duopoly.

▲ source: more than 40% of Qualcomm's revenue comes from apple and Samsung, according to Strategy AnalyticsStrategy Analytics. Qualcomm's revenue from Apple was $7.7 billion (55.132 billion yuan) in fiscal year 2021, compared with $9.2 billion (65.872 billion yuan) in fiscal year 2022.

In November, Qualcomm commented in its results that it had planned to provide only about 20 per cent of the 5G baseband chips for the new iPhone in 2023, but now expects to maintain its current supply level. It also means that Apple's 2023 model is not expected to use a self-developed baseband design.

In addition, Akash Palkhiwala, Qualcomm's chief financial officer, confirmed on the earnings call that Qualcomm had shifted from 75 per cent of the Galaxy S22 series (chipset) to a global share.

CTOnews.com learned that Qualcomm reported revenue of $44.2 billion (about 316.472 billion yuan) in fiscal 2022, up 32% from a year earlier, and net profit of $12.936 billion (about 92.622 billion yuan), up 43% from a year earlier. Qualcomm expects revenue of $92 to $10 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2023.
