CTOnews.com, December 26, the latest data from China Information and Communication Institute show that in October 2022, the domestic market shipped 24.356 million mobile phones, down 27.5 percent from the same period last year, of which 19.517 million were 5G handsets, down 26.6 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 80.1 percent of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to October 2022, total mobile phone shipments in the domestic market totaled 220 million, down 21.9% from the same period last year, of which 5G mobile phone shipments were 173 million, down 17.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 78.4% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

CTOnews.com learned that in October 2022, 33 new models of mobile phones were launched in China, an increase of 26.9 percent over the same period last year, including 20 5G phones, an increase of 25.0 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 60.6 percent of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to October 2022, a total of 338 new models were on the market, down 11.1 percent from the same period last year, including 176 5G phones, down 6.4 percent from the same period last year, accounting for 52.1 percent of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

In terms of brand composition, in October 2022, domestic brand mobile phones shipped 16.807 million units, down 26.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 69.0% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 30 new models were on the market, up 20.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 90.9% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period. From January to October 2022, domestic brand mobile phone shipments totaled 186 million, down 24.5% from the same period last year, accounting for 84.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 308 new models were listed, down 10.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 91.1% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period.

In terms of the development of domestic smartphones, in October 2022, 23.776 million smartphones were shipped, down 27.2% from the same period last year, accounting for 97.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to October 2022, smartphone shipments were 215 million units, down 22.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 97.4% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In October 2022, 24 new models of smartphones were launched, down 4.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 72.7% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to October 2022, a total of 281 new models of smartphones were launched, down 13.5% from the same period last year, accounting for 83.1% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
