CTOnews.com, December 26 (Xinhua)-- Boeing and Commercial aircraft Corporation of China announced today that they are working together on a sustainable development project to develop and test Ramie fiber reinforced polylactic acid matrix composites (RRP) for the production of cabin components for civil aircraft.

According to reports, compared with the traditional plastic scheme for manufacturing cabin parts of civil aircraft, this composite material has the advantages of light weight, high strength and 100% degradability.

The project is implemented by Comac-Boeing Sustainable Aviation Technology Center of China, and the R & D team has produced a small number of RRP aircraft seat tables for testing. According to relevant experts, the small table has passed flammability and overload tests and has been evaluated in a real flight environment through Boeing's "environmental verification aircraft".

CTOnews.com learned that Comac-Boeing Sustainable Aviation Technology Center was established in 2012 to cooperate in the areas of green aviation, air traffic management, cabin environment, industry standards and operational safety, and announced an extension of cooperation for another five years during the recent 2022 Zhuhai Air Show.

It is reported that Boeing was introduced into the Chinese market during President Nixon's historic visit to China in 1972. China is now involved in all the manufacturing processes of Boeing aircraft in production, such as Boeing 737s, 747s, 767s, 777s and 787s. Currently, there are more than 10000 Boeing aircraft flying around the world using Chinese-made parts and components.
