CTOnews.com, December 26 (Xinhua)-- Firefox browser Firefox's accessibility service is about to get a big boost. Accessibility services such as screen reading can help users understand the content of the page, which will further improve the latency of accessibility services in the update of Firefox 111tap 112. These improvements have been introduced in the Firefox Nightly version and will be further tested in the Firefox Beta Channel version to be released next January.

Mozilla has tested that it takes 200ms for the existing accessibility service to open an email from Gmail, which can be reduced to 100ms in the new version, while it takes 410ms to close an open Gmail message to return to its inbox, compared with 150ms in the new version.

The new version is more optimized for loading large documents, tables, and other content. Testing of large documents (very large HTML standard specifications) improved performance from 175 seconds to just 15 seconds. In another test, the loading time of a table containing more than 12000 rows was increased from 128s to 6s.

Mozilla acknowledges that the new assistive technology architecture of Firefox is similar to the implementation of Chrome, but mainly focuses on three aspects: saving memory, reducing complexity, and improving hit test accuracy. More details can be found here.
