Apple officially said that the "siren" function can spread as far as about 180m (600ft), but foreign technology media The Verge has measured that the function is up to the standard, but it is not as reliable in the actual scene, not as good as the $4 whistle.

The Verge invited 5 professionals to evaluate Apple Watch Ultra (diving, running, hiking, skiing, machine dismantling and maintenance). In an earlier disassembly, it was revealed that the smartwatch was equipped with a large 542mAh battery, which means it has a much longer battery life than other Apple Watch models, so using the "siren" function in an emergency can increase the chances of rescue.

When you turn on the siren, the Apple Watch Ultra plays a continuous siren, which can be heard as far away as 180m (600ft).

The siren uses a unique high-pitched sound and has two different modes; the sounds of these two modes are generally not heard in nature or the environment and are played alternately and repeatedly.

Sirens are paused in some cases, such as during a call and when a timer or alarm goes off, but not when podcasts or music are played.

The siren will continue to play until you turn it off or the watch runs out of power.

Do not turn on the siren in a closed environment as much as possible, and do not put the watch close to your ear when the siren is played.

If your Apple Watch Ultra is damp, the siren may not be as loud as expected. After the watch is dry, the siren will play at normal volume.

But in the actual test, it was found that the "siren" function of the Apple Watch Ultra could not be heard 650 feet away, while the sound made by using a $4 whistle could still be heard faintly from 1325 feet away.

You must also remember that with GPS enabled, Apple Watch Ultra cannot last for several days, which the company claims to last up to 36 hours, depending on your usage. On the other hand, the $4 whistle can be used for many years, so while the wearable device has other features to look forward to, it is also important to always carry the whistle with you in an emergency.
