CTOnews.com, December 25 (Xinhua) according to Huawei's official website, Huawei and Orange have successfully achieved a new world record for 120km optical fiber 157Tbit / s transmission prototype testing on the Orange network in southwestern France. This technological achievement makes it clear that Orange's current infrastructure is well prepared for transport technologies that are likely to bear increasing traffic over the next decade.

In June 2022, Huawei released the industry's first ultra-wideband Super C+Super L solution that provides the 12THz spectrum on optical fibers using C-band (C for conventional wavelengths) and L-band (L for long wavelengths). In this test, through the S-band (S stands for shortwave) self-developed technology, relying on the transmission expertise of Huawei's French R & D center, the total bandwidth is extended to 18THz. Based on Huawei's advanced high-order constellation shaping modulation algorithm, a total of 240wavelengths are used to provide the total transmission capacity of 157Tbit / s.

Huawei says that while traffic demand is increasing sharply every year, spectrum efficiency, such as the amount of information transmitted for a given spectrum, appears to have increased by only half over the same period. This will lead to the saturation of the existing backbone network. The technology provides a solution to leverage already deployed fiber systems and ensure capacity upgrades without investing in new fiber deployments. Tests have shown that innovation and research are and will continue to be priorities for both companies to address future traffic needs and provide customers with affordable connectivity.

CTOnews.com learned that Jin Yuzhi, president of Huawei's optical product line, said: "Huawei has been committed to strategic investment, research and technological breakthroughs in optical communications for a long time, and our optical research team has performed well. We are pleased to work with innovative operators like Orange to contribute to the creation of the future network."
