Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! On December 25, Toshiba Electronic components and Storage Devices Co., Ltd. announced that it will build a new back-end production facility for power semiconductors at the Jilu Semiconductor Plant in Hyogo Prefecture in western Japan.

Construction of the new facility will begin in June 2024 and production is scheduled for spring 2025. The project will more than double the vehicle power semiconductor production capacity of the Toshiba Ji Road plant compared with fiscal year 2022.

Power devices are important components used to manage and reduce power consumption and save energy in a variety of electronic devices. Most importantly, with the development of automotive electrification and industrial equipment automation, the market demand for low-voltage MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) is expected to continue to grow compared to all other products. Toshiba has decided to meet this growth by building new back-end production facilities.

Looking ahead, Toshiba will expand its power semiconductor business and improve its competitiveness by providing efficient and highly reliable products to meet fast-growing demand and contribute to carbon neutralization.
