According to reports, the construction of the Emei-Mianning section, which was opened and operated this time, began in April 2016, with a total length of 240 kilometers, with nine stations in Emei, Yangang, Shawan South, Ebian South, Jinkou Henan, Gangluonan, Yue Xi, Xi Desi and Mianning, all of which handle passenger and freight services.

CTOnews.com learned that the existing Chengdu-Kunming Railway, with a total length of 1096 kilometers, is a national first-class single-track railway with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. Construction began in July 1958 and was completed and opened to traffic in July 1970.

The new Chengdu-Kunming Railway starts from Chengdu South Railway Station, passes through Chengdu City, Meishan City, Leshan City, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Panzhihua City in Sichuan Province, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Kunming City in Yunnan Province, and ends in Kunming Station. crossing Minjiang River, Qingyi River, Dadu River, Jinsha River, crossing Emei Mountain, Da Xiao Liangshan and Hengduan Mountain, it is a national first-class double-line electrified railway with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The Xiaoxiangling Tunnel with a total length of 22 kilometers has been built, including 7 tunnels with a length of more than 10 kilometers, and 11 long-span bridges with a length of more than 2 kilometers.

At present, the sections of the new Chengdu-Kunming Railway from Chengdu to Emei, Mianning to Miyidong, Miyidong to Panzhihua South, Panzhihua South to Yongren, Yongren to Guangtong North, and Guangtong North to Kunming have been completed and put into operation in December 2017, January 2022, May 2020, January 2020, October 2019 and December 2013, respectively.
